John Ferguson

John graduated from The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh and began his career in general practice in Yorkshire and Herefordshire, where he developed a keen interest in surgery. He returned to Edinburgh to complete a Residency in Small Animal Orthopaedics, furthering his expertise through advanced study and examinations.

In the late 1990s, John moved with his young family to Fife, where he purchased the East Neuk Veterinary Clinic. Under his leadership, the clinic grew rapidly, relocating to a purpose-built facility in St Monans. There, he developed one of the UK’s busiest veterinary orthopaedic referral centres, earning recognition as a centre of excellence known for exceptional client and patient care.

After selling the practice to a corporate group in 2019, John remained for two years but found corporate practice misaligned with his values. This inspired him to establish a new, independent, state-of-the-art veterinary clinic in Glenrothes, Fife. Supported by a talented and dedicated team, John continues to deliver outstanding care, fulfilling his vision for veterinary excellence.

Stephen Clarke

Steve graduated from University of Edinburgh in 1996. After gaining the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 2002, Steve started specialist surgical training at the University of Glasgow, completing his residency programme in 2005. In 2006 Steve gained both the RCVS Diploma in Small Animal Surgery (Orthopaedics) and the ECVS Diploma in Small Animal Surgery, obtaining RCVS Specialist status in 2008.

For the last 19 years Steve has worked full time in orthopaedic referral practice. Initially at East Neuk Veterinary Clinic in Fife, and then a 13 year stretch at Willows Referral Service, in the West Midlands.

Steve has long been deeply involved in the orthopaedic community from training future specialists to a period as chief examiner. Currently Steve holds the esteemed position of AO UK&I Vet Chairperson and he is on the panel of scrutineers for the British Veterinary Association/Kennel Club Hip and Elbow dysplasia canine health schemes.

Away from work Steve enjoys spending time with his family and his two Terriers. Steve is also a keen runner, cyclist and has become increasingly obsessed with air-cooled Volkswagens over recent years.

Lachlan Mukherjee

Lachlan Mukherjee

Lachlan graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2014. He initially teamed up with John Ferguson in 2018, training under him at the clinic he founded in St Monans. During this time Lachlan completed his advanced practitioner certificate in general small animal surgery.

Lachlan continued to work for a further 6 years at East Neuk until he joined the team at Ferguson Veterinary Clinic. He is now an RCVS recognised Advanced Practitioner of Small Animal Surgery who has cultivated his own robust and diverse skill set.

Lachlan devotes a large proportion of his time to his work to ensure his cases and their families have a positive experience through what can often be a worrying time. Outside of work Lachlan spends as much time as possible with his family and his own two cats Jamie and Vader. You might also see him out running the fields of Fife (on a sunny day) or exploring the beautiful coastline.

Becky Foster

Becky qualified from the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 2012. After a year working in Wellington, New Zealand she relocated to the United Kingdom, where most of her family live. Her Nana grew up in Lumphinnans and Becky has many family members nearby.

Becky has worked at several practices in the UK since and brings 12 years of general practice experience to Ferguson Veterinary Clinic. She is delighted to be serving the community in the heart of Fife in a purpose-built fantastic building with the best equipment available.

Becky is also looking forward to working with the carefully selected team of experienced and dedicated staff, many of whom she has worked with before.

Outside of work Becky enjoys cooking for family and friends, attending music gigs and loves a long hike with beautiful scenery. Becky also owns Drum, an unsuccessful racehorse on whom she enjoys galloping through the glorious Fife countryside.

Mhairi Cameron

Mhairi Cameron

Mhairi qualified from Glasgow University in 2019 following achieving an intercalated degree in Zoology from Edinburgh University in 2017. She has since been working in small animal practice and has recently achieved an RCVS Certificate and Masters degree in Advanced Clinical Practice from Nottingham University. She has an interest in wildlife and exotic pets having grown up with a tortoise and spending time in Australia.

Outside of work Mhairi enjoys spending time with her crazy Cocker Spaniel, Finn and can often be found on or near a rugby pitch. She also enjoys travelling to visit new places with her fiancé and continues to play as part of a Ceilidh band with University friends.

Louise Wilson

Louise Wilson

Louise is originally from Aberdeenshire and graduated from Glasgow University in 2006. After a few years in mixed practice, Louise spent 2 years in Thailand working with wildlife before returning to small animal practice in Fife in 2014.

She gained her certificate in advanced veterinary practice from Liverpool University in 2024 and has special interests in medicine, ultrasound, otology and senior pet care.

Out of the clinic Louise enjoys live music and has a 21 year old ginger cat called Oscar who despite his senior years still rules the roost!

Donna McAleese

Donna is an accomplished and dedicated Practice Manager. She joined John Ferguson at East Neuk Veterinary Clinic 17 years ago and was instrumental in creating this highly successful award-winning practice. She has vast experience in running an efficient clinic, focusing on team leadership and client care.

Passionate about fostering a positive and supportive workplace culture, Donna prioritises staff wellbeing, understanding that motivated and valued teams are essential to delivering exceptional care for pets and their owners.

In 2024, Donna was delighted to obtain the opportunity to work alongside John again in his new, independently owned Ferguson Veterinary Clinic as an integral member of the management team.

Piotr Godziebiewski

Piotr graduated from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences in 2006 and worked in a mixed practice in Poland before moving to the UK in 2012. While working in small animal practices in Hampshire and West Sussex, he developed a strong interest in dentistry and oral surgery, attending several courses — including a four-week ESAVS training at Accesia in Sweden.

In 2017, he began a residency program at DentalVets, a specialist referral-only dental veterinary practice, under the mentorship of Norman Johnston. After completing his residency in 2020, Piotr continued working at DentalVets, treating a wide range of dental and surgical cases.

Beyond clinical work, Piotr enjoys sharing the knowledge and experience he has gained. In recent years, he has been actively involved in teaching veterinary dentistry through DentalVets and Central CPD.

Outside of work, Piotr enjoys reading, cooking, DIY projects, and long walks in remote areas. Addicted to the sea and sailing for most of his life, he recharges by caring for a very different kind of ‘patient’: a 1975, 28-foot sailboat.
