We are delighted to have been granted planning permission to build a new, state-of-the-art Pet Orthopaedic Referral and Primary Care Hospital in Glenrothes, Fife.
Our new facility will provide orthopaedic investigation and surgery to patients across Scotland as well as offering primary care for pets in the local community.
The hospital wll be almost 12,000 sq ft and will be built on an acre of brown-field land which was previously an outdoor car sales lot and we will open in 2025 with a team of around 20.
As you’d expect, our patients come first which is why we’ve designed separate, bespoke patient recovery kennels that will contain noise and odours, further improving staff and patient comfort.
The design is spacious and airy with lots of natural light entering the hospital. Equipment will include a 64 slice CT scanning installation with metal artefact reduction, theatre flouroscopy and gantry mounted DR X-ray suite.
Our team is very important to us and we’re building the centre with an emphasis on employee wellbeing, with the hospital offering flexible working patterns, an on-site gym and a mindfulness room for staff.
The new facility will also benefit from a small wildflower meadow in the surrounding space, which will include a private staff garden. Both experienced nurses and support staff will assist the veterinary team, which will include surgical specialists.
John Ferguson, the Veterinary Surgeon behind the project, previously set up the highly acclaimed East Neuk Veterinary Clinic in St Monans, Fife offering similar veterinary services. Prior to selling the practice to a Veterinary Corporate in 2019, he ran one of the busiest orthopaedic referral centres in the country.
John says “I am delighted and excited to have gained planning consent for our new development. The hospital will be staffed by the most committed, highly trained and dedicated individuals. It seems a great time to invest again in an independent veterinary hospital in Scotland. I am very much looking forward to being of service once more to the referring Vets who had kindly supported me previously during my 22 years at East Neuk Veterinary Clinic”.
The hospital will be easily accessible by road from the M9 Motorway, just off the main A92 at the Bankhead roundabout located between the Beijing Banquet Restaurant and the Toolstation, opposite Fife Council's main headquarters.
